Harboe insists on uniform, high-quality ingredients. Our malt extracts are produced from malt, primarily made from barley.
By the time the malt is completely ready for use, it will have undergone Harboe’s three-stage process:
Malting serves a number of purposes. It extends the shelf life of the grain; the malt’s own enzymes are activated, and malting helps to convert the starch of the grain into sugar.
Today, we work with malted and unmalted barley, rye, wheat and oats.
Harboe does not use genetically modified ingredients, so none of our finished Barlex malt extract products require GMO labelling.
